F. K. Fisher described this sauce as follows:\u00a0 \u201cA peppery concoction suited to the taste of bouillabaisse, served separately from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seafood-harvest.com\/?s=soup\">soup<\/a> to be ladled in at the discretion of the individual diner.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>2 small bell peppers, seeded and cut in small squares<\/li>\n<li>2 small, hot dried chiles, such as piquin or Thai, crushed<\/li>\n<li>1 cup water<\/li>\n<li>2 pimientos, drained and dried (optional)<\/li>\n<li>4 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped<\/li>\n<li>6 tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n<li>1 to 3 teaspoons fine dry bread crumbs<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Instructions<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>In a saucepan, combine the bell peppers, dried chiles, and water. Simmer until the bell peppers are soft,then drain the peppers and pat dry.<\/li>\n<li>Place the peppers, pimientos (optional) and garlic in a mixing bowl or mortar and mash the ingredients together until they become a smooth paste. Slowly beat in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gourmetfoodstore.com\/oil-and-vinegar\/\">olive oil<\/a> and bread crumbs until the mixture becomes just too thick to pour. Or, add the peppers, pimientos, and garlic to a blender and pur\u00e9e while adding the olive oil and bread crumbs.
